Two local health centers in Nipissing are getting some additional funding. The Province is giving Nipissing Serenity Hospice a boost of just over $236k ($236,500 – a 45% top-up increase from base funding) while the Mattawa Hospital is getting a $35,100

Elliot Lake city Council has approved a plan to accelerate the repairs to the Ruben Yli-Juuti Centre. It has been closed for repairs since June of last year. The repairs are expected to take about 40 weeks.

West Nipissing is considering higher building fees. While nothing has been nailed down, the building fees were last reviewed in 2018.
The cost to design — or redesign — the Golden Manor redevelopment has increased. The design services at the Timmins long-term care facility has gone up by $486,605, bringing the total cost of the contract to more than $2.7 million. Council approved the item at its Feb. 28 meeting.
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, Algoma District School Board, and Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board are partnering up as part of a new patrol initiative. The hope is to “mitigate social risks that negatively affect the community”. The partnership is set to begin on March 20th.
