Greater Sudbury has signed a letter of intent signaling a co-operation with the mining region of Moquegua in Peru. The hope to dig into a range of interests, including mining research, education, and innovation.

The Field Skating Rink in West Nipissing is getting funding through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation Community Enhancement Program. $500,000 for upgrades in infrastructure.

Construction season in Timmins is on its way. It will once again feature a stretch of Algonquin Blvd. known as the connecting link reconstruction.

Sault Ste Marie city council will hear today a recommendation from a consultant regarding garbage collection. In short, it be reduced to every two weeks, with a new weekly curbside collection of organics.

A search is continuing for a missing snowmobiler at the north end of Lake Temiskaming. The 49-year-old was last seen on March 11th. Their identity has not been disclosed.

A number of Books belonging to the 19th century have been found in a Sault Ste Marie attic. Located in a chest, there are books of poetry published in the 1860s and 1880s. It’s believed they belonged to Joseph Wilson, said to be instrumental in the early days of the township.

Deadline extended to apply to museum and heritage advisory panel in Greater Sudbury has been extended until the end of the month. This new panel will meet quarterly to provide advice and help create short and long-term plans for the programming and cultural heritage representation at local museums; heritage tourism opportunities; and heritage designation.

The City of North Bay is looking at tendering the project of the Lamorie Street Bridge next month. The hope is that construction would begin in July.

And five skaters from the North Bay Figure Skating Club have qualified for the Skate Ontario Provincial Championships. All under the age of 13, the Skate Ontario Provincial Championships take place this upcoming weekend at the Stratford Rotary Complex.
