A ranking from a Canadian company HelloSafe says when it comes to “the best cities” for students in Canada for 2023, Sudbury is pulling in at 29th, five points up from the rating at this time last year. North Bay and Sault Ste Marie also made the top 50.

Timmins City Hall says load restrictions take effect on Mon., March 27, and last until mid-June. A link to the list of affected roads is online.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is still attempting to locate a missing man. 38-year-old Jake Corbiere.

Manitoulin OPP says with the spring and the shrinking of snow, herds of deer are wandering out of their winter yards in increasing numbers. Drivers along Highway 6 are encouraged to keep one eye on the ditch.

From the good news file, a reception was held this week at North Bay City Hall to honor North Bay’s crossing guards. About 20 guards were in attendance, and all received a certificate of appreciation from Mayor Peter Chirico on behalf of the city.

A new report from the Conference Board of Canada is projecting a positive 2023 for Sudbury’s economy. The report says the city will likely continue to recover and progress from pandemic lockdowns, while major industries enjoy am increase in demand.

One group of students weren’t at school today. Near North District School Board has announced today that Ferris Glen Public School in Corbeil will be closed due to a power outage. The closure includes the daycare centre as well.

Three Youth sports associations ask for extension of reduced rates for ice time. The resolution is to be presented at next council meeting.

Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board plans to spend $450,000 on classroom renovations at the St. George’s Avenue East site, plus another $150,000 to move portables from St. Francis French Immersion to St. Basil and Sacred Heart in Espanola.
