The City of Greater Sudbury is seeking the public’s feedback on a proposal to rename the Garson Arena. The name on the table is former Greater Sudbury resident and hockey hall of famer George Armstrong.

1 new fire has been confirmed fire in the Northeast Region today. Kirkland Lake 1 is about 0.3 hectare and is being held. The fire is located about 25 kilometers northwest of Kirkland Lake and about 2 kilometers east of Malloch Lake.

The current forest fire danger rating for most areas in the Nipissing District is at the extreme level. To that end, there is a burning ban in place.

Those in Timmins in need of a transit pass can now buy one at the C.M. Shields Centennial Library in South Porcupine. Timmins council approved the new sales location at its May 30 meeting.

The explosion were linked to aerosol cans and bottles of chlorine that fuelled the a transport truck fire. To make matters worse, the fire was mixed cargo of paint, car and pool supplies.  The area has since been reopened.

The emergency ward in Blind River is closing for 24 hours. The emergency department in Thessalon has been forced to lock its doors multiple times over the past week; Blind River will follow suit on Friday for 24 hours

Assiginack Township on Manitoulin Island is seeks turtle crossing protection. To that end, they’ve made an application to the Ministry of Transportation. They don’t want the slow walkers hurt, and they’re asking drivers to watch their speed
