A forest fire that started this week west of Timmins is still not under control. Timmins 6 started about in the Malette Road area and is currently 8.5 hectares. It’s 13 kilometers west of Timmins and five kilometers north of Highway 101.

The city of Sault Ste Marie says seasonal patio operators will only be required to carry $2 million of insurance. The decision comes after a second debate on whether the city should increase the required insurance to $5 million, as recommended by provincial legislation.

The Greater Sudbury Police Service is partnering with Confederation Secondary School to pilot an all-terrain vehicle safety awareness program. Representatives from the Police Service and the Ministry of Natural Resources will be at the school today to deliver the in-class component.

North Bay residents are being warned about a heavy Police presence this today, at the waterfront. The Emergency Response Team will be conducting training exercises in the area between 8 a.m. and noon on Friday, and there is no need from concern.

Hydro One is planning a power outage in Kirkland Lake. It’s happens on Sunday, June 4. Just over 4300 Hydro One customers will be affected.

In Sault Metzger Street and McAllen Street will be closed at Central Street for six weeks this Summer. City councilors voted this week to close the streets to allow outstanding work related to the Central Street aqueduct repairs. The closure is effective until July 11, 2023.
