A winter weather travel advisory has been issued for Sudbury and environs, with as much as 10 cm of snow expected to come down between Monday night and Tuesday afternoon.

The City of North Bay is catching a break this winter when it comes to snow removal and water main repair costs, thanks to unseasonably warm weather.

In a unanimous decision Monday night from Elliot Lake City Council, interim Mayor Andrew Wannan will assume the permanent role for the rest of the term after a unanimous vote by council.

It’s expected to be another strong construction year in Sault Ste Marie. In 2023, the city issued 1,095 permits valued at a little more than $148 million.   Those permit numbers included 110 new dwelling units. January building permits were off to a good start, according to city statistics. In total, 39 permits of $7,363,504 were approved by the city’s building division.
