Boréal students in Greater Sudbury now have another resource when it comes to the industrial program. A scissor truck thanks to local support.

Paving season is starting up again in North Bay. Om the list, Memorial, from the Pedestrian Crossing to the Railway Crossing, and McIntyre, from John to Fisher.

The Connaught and District Historical Society is getting a financial boost this year, with Timmins council. Since 2017, the historical society has been receiving $2,600 annually from the City of Timmins to help with the operational costs of the Connaught and District Pioneer Museum. The 2024 payment has been bumped to $3,000.

Some in Sault ste Marie will get double to do this year in July. In addition to Canada Day, People on the Canadian side of the St. Marys River will be able to enjoy July 4th fireworks stateside will be held over the River near the east end of the Soo Locks.

Zack’s Crib in New Liskeard is offering their official welcome to welcome Joyce Elson as their new Executive Director.

Greater Sudbury has introduced 11 new paramedics to the city. It happened this week, part of Paramedic Services Week in the city.

Federal and provincial funding is helping North Bay upgrade public transit in the city. A combined total of $4.1 million is going toward several initiatives. North Bay’s share of that amount is $1.1 million.

Timmins Police has a new chief. Sydney Lecky officially received his badge for the municipal service in a change of command ceremony. He is the 17th Timmins Police Service chief and the first First Nations person to serve in the role.

Sault Ste Marie has added three new pedestrian crossovers. At what the city calls ‘strategic locations’: Goulais Avenue at Rushmere Drive, Pine Street at Pleasant Drive and Carmen’s Way at Albert Street

In Elliot Lake, the Water? It will be shut down in North Industrial Area area Wednesday. It’s going to be happening at around 8:30 am in the area of Timber Road and Roddis Road in order to repair a water main. Occupants may experience reduced water pressure for a temporary period once the water supply has been restored.

Hundreds of Canada’s best jumpers were in Waterloo this weekend for Rope Skipping Canada’s national championships. 312 athletes from British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, and Nova Scotia were in for the event… many were able to come and watch – as it was only a hop skip and a
jump away.

As of news time, seven wildland fires burn in Ontario’s northeast region, including one reported today north of Sudbury near Halfway Lake Provincial Park, which is not yet under control. The fire hazard is low to moderate in locations south of Elliot Lake and Sudbury.

The North Bay Police Service is reporting success with some new licenses plate recognition technology. Since January, several investigations have taken place.

The Municipal Accessibility Advisory Committee in Timmins (MAAC) is submitting a letter of support for a proposal when it comes to paratransit use. It’s to the provincial Ministry of Transportation to develop a provincial-level paratransit use application process.

Kirkland Lake town council is backing a grant application to the Temiskaming Foundation. They’ve had to hurry hard on this one…. as it is from the Kirkland Lake Curling Club.

A sign of warmer weather, the carnival was in Sault Ste Marie this week at the Soo Pee Wee Arena.
