The Rainbow District School Board and the union representing designated early childhood educators in Sudbury, Espanola and Manitoulin Island have ratified a collective agreement at the local level. The new deal is retroactive to Sept. 1, 2022 and will continue until Aug. 31, 2026.
Meanwhile, the province is investing $5 million into the expansion of 11 area businesses in Nipissing. The announcement was made just ahead the weekend.
Creditors have moved to take ownership of most of the properties in northern Ontario owned by a group of 11 insolvent companies. One of the largest groupings is in Timmins 290. Properties are also in the Sault, Sudbury, Kirkland Lake, Capreol, Temiskaming Shores and Val Caron.
A part of Sault’s homeless outreach strategy is almost ready to hit the road. A $250,000 van will soon be patrolling the streets of Sault Ste. Marie, providing a space for workers to assist vulnerable populations.

North Bay’s Making Over Main Street project, between Fraser and Cassells streets, is open, and now some final touches, including landscape furniture placement and installation of the handrails on Block 2, between Ferguson and Fraser streets, are all that’s left, to be complete by mid-November.
