Greater Sudbury’s Police is tabling next year’s budget… a 6.2-per-cent increase will be reviewed during today board meeting.

The United Way is again running this year’s “Keeping Seniors Warm” program in North Bay. They’re partnering with Giant Tiger through the campaign.

The Porcupine Ski Runners has renamed the McNair Chalet’s main building in honour of past board member Gerry McNair. It’s an honour of the work done to get the chalet built.

Downtown Sault Ste Marie will be closing—kind of—for a week due to construction. Queen Street will be closed to traffic between Spring and Elgin Streets.

In Elliot Lake, the water is being shut off today, for the address on Hart and Gatenby. Construction Work will start at 8 a.m. with service to be restored when repairs are finished.

This week, the public got a chance to see what Greater Sudbury’s proposed cultural hub could look like. The city held an open house showing architectural blueprints and artist renderings for the project, which will be retrofitted into spaces at Tom Davies Square.

Trees for Nipissing is joining forces for the fourth year with volunteers. They’ve planted 30 trees at Chippewa Secondary School, inside the fence along Chippewa Street and on the other side of the sports field.

Well, this doesn’t’ hit until tomorrow… but the first bigger drop of snow… 5-10cm. Could be coming for Timmins, Cochrane, Kapuskasing and surrounding areas. Environment Canada has put out a special weather statement for those areas… it does not reach New Liskeard.

The Shell station at McNabb and Pine streets in Sault Ste Marie has reopened after someone drove a vehicle through the window on Oct. 24. Police, fire services and EMS attended the scene at around 11 a.m. last Thursday. There were thankfully no injuries.

Premier Ford says in Greater Sudbury the completion date for Hwy. 69 expansion… is not available as of yet. The premier was in Greater Sudbury this week, and says It’s in the engineering stages right now, and in consultations.

More masking is required at Sault Area Hospital. This is as they say…raspatory season is now upon us. Beginning today everyone must wear a mask or face covering upon entering any patient care area at SAH and in all public areas of off-site facilities.

Callander township says an OPP fee increase is coming, but it’s prepared for that eventuality. OPP service rates are on the rise throughout many municipalities. Callander’s fee for service will rise $60,000, from around $375,000 annually to the $435,000 mark.
