The City of Greater Sudbury is inviting residents to share feedback and thoughts on the next phase of a multi-year project to revitalize outdoor tennis and basketball courts across the community. The $4.38-million initiative, funded through the federal Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program, aims to upgrade 14 tennis and 14 basketball facilities by 2027.

North Bay city council says it’s doing more to address affordable housing issues in the community. The additional housing unit (ADU) grant aims to convince property owners and builders to develop more units on existing or new homes with an incentive of up to $25,000 to cover the cost.

The Timmins Police Service say a previously missing teen has been located. This is after 16-year-old Kaiden went missing… she has been located in good health.

Temagami Council has approved a new bylaw… it’s all to approve and oversee short term rentals in the community.

A mid afternoon fire in Elliot Lake Friday afternoon has been deemed accidental, but the damage has been pegged at $45,000. It happened at a garage on Washington Crescent. There were thankfully, no injures.

A Water Safety statement has been issued for all Sudbury watersheds. It will stay in effective until 10 a.m., Friday, April 18. Evidently, many of the watercourses within the Sudbury area are at the high end of typical spring ranges.

Meanwhile, the Current stream flows in Sault Ste. Marie is slightly above normal, and localized flooding may occur in low-lying areas. It could cause water to pool on roads.

Sudbury’s Cambrian College is the latest in Ontario to look at suspending several of its academic programs. Reports indicate that before the end of the month, Cambrian College Board of Governors, college administration will be recommending that the intake of new students into several programs be suspended for the fall term beginning this September.

The new owners of the former Espanola paper mill say they’re planning to redevelop the facility and ‘put wood back to work’. BMI Group previously redeveloped the St. Mary’s paper mill in Sault Ste. Marie. The Espanola mill still has 32 employees who have continued to manage and maintain the site.

Sad news out of North Bay, former broadcaster, city councilor, and representative for the riding of Nipissing in the House of Commons Bob Wood has passed away. Well known in a number of avenues, including the Project Lifesaver campaign. he passed away yesterday. Bob Wood was 85 years old.

The season is over for the Timmins Snowmobile Club. Its trails finally closed this weekend as grooming operations have come to an end. The club advises that using the trails as snow and ice conditions deteriorate in the spring weather is extremely hazardous.

The City of Elliot Lake is letting residents know the work on the Rogers Arena structure has resumed now that the snow and ice buildup from the winter months has melted away. Repairs continue as scheduled, and updates will be provided as they become available.

The city of Timiskaming Shores says they will spend 1 million dollars in the coming months. It’s all for road repairs and upgrades as Spring continues.
