
Sudbury fire and police were called to scene of a structure fire at he old St. Joseph’s hospital on Paris Street late yesterday. As a result, Paris Street is closed in both directions from York to McNaughton streets. The fire has affected bus service in the area, leading to a detour. The public is being asked to stay clear of the area.
North Bay City Council has memorialized and honoured their former colleague and friend, George Maroosis this week, who passed away in November of 2023. He will have a plaque installed in his honour in the parkette bordering Algonquin Avenue, Main Street West, and Cassells Street. Maroosis passing away at 77.
After years of planning, work to replace culverts in the east end of Timmins will start next week. Frederick House Lake Road will be closed starting on Monday, May 26, to allow for two culverts to be replaced at Moose Creek.

The North Bay Heritage Railway remains closed for an investigation as to what caused a derailment. It happened Monday around 6:15 p.m. There were thankfully no injuries.
A week-long traffic enforcement campaign by the North Bay Police Service has resulted in dozens of charges, including speeding, careless driving, and stunt driving. Among the charges… 45 were dinged for speeding, including one in a Community Safety Zone.
