Critical mineral processing facilities at Cambrian College are receiving funding. Across the province, $262,000 has been announced for the School’s Chemical Analysis and Scientific Services lab.

A small community near Cochrane is fighting to save its cable ferry that takes motorists across the Abitibi River and cuts through a provincial highway. The Gardiner Ferry crossing is about a half-hour drive north of Cochrane. For almost six decades, the ferry has taken motorists across the waterway to their homes, camps, hunting and trapping grounds.

One new wildfire was reported in the Northeast Region on Saturday. Sudbury 12 is a 0.2-hectare fire located on the southern peninsula of Conway Lake.  It is under control.

Plants are being presented as an alternative to No Mow May. Clean North in Sault Ste. Marie by planting native species instead, it supports pollinators year-round.
