The City of Timmins has announced that the reduced load restrictions for commercial motor vehicles and trailers that apply to some roads are lifting as of 4 p.m. on Friday, May 30. The restrictions are put in place during the spring thaw to protect the roads. They are typically in place until mid-June unless the City lifts them earlier.
Meanwhile, in Sault Ste. Marie, road work will mean a portion of People’s Road is closing for roughly 26 weeks. Citing infrastructure work, the road will be closed between Penno Road and Churchill Avenue starting tomorrow at 6:00a. As part of the closure, the #3 Korah Road bus route will go as far north as Everett Street.

Fire crews are at the scene of an overnight fire to pinpoint what sparked an overnight blaze in Porcupine. The fire tore through the house on the southeast corner of Highway 101 and Conley Street late yesterday. Thankfully everyone was able to get out.
