It’s been determined… damage in Samuel de Champlain Park during a weekend storm was a downburst and not a tornado. This is according to Western University’s Northern Tornadoes Project. A Highly localized, a downburst is a localized, powerful downdraft of air within a thunderstorm that, upon hitting the ground, spreads out in all directions, causing damaging winds.

The city of Sudury is extend financial incentives to more outlying communities. The goal is to see more properties become eligible for financial incentives toward their development in a new Greater Sudbury Community Improvement Plan, to be in place by September.

HSN in Sudbury has declared an outbreak in its cardiac unit. The outbreak on the eighth level of the North tower was declared this week, and restrictions are in place.

Prince Township and the City of Sault Ste. Marie are discussing a new agreement for police protection for Prince’s 1,044 inhabitants. For the second time this year, an expired five-year agreement is being extended as the two municipalities try to strike a new deal.
