More than a dozen protesters had their say yesterday at a busy traffic intersection in Sudbury along the Kingways, protesting a plan by the province to spray the chemical glyphosate in local forests across the North. The City of North Bay’s Merrick Landfill is closed due to a fire. It happened this morning at 7. The heaviest fire has been extinguished, but crews will remain on site for much of the day working to make sure that the fire is fully extinguished.
Meanwhile an aircraft received minor damage in a fire at the airport in Timmins yesterday. The call came in right after 10am. There was smoke coming from the structure on Hangar Road. The fire was under control by 10:40 a.m., with crews staying on the scene to check for hot spots and make sure the fire had not spread.
The Sault Ste. Marie Public Library is introducing a new requirement for registration in select children’s and adult programs. A valid library card will be required to register for a number of programs including, Baby Time, Toddler Time and Preschool Storytime.
