The New Sudbury library will temporarily close all due to renovations. A new HVAC unit and accessibility improvements will be done starting Sept. 22nd. It will last 8 weeks.

There is a vacant seat on Gore Bay council with Councillor Kelly Chaytor having recently resigned. Ms. Chaytor will still be involved in the community, having taken on a new job with the town.

In Sudbury, sidewalk winter maintenance improvements have been given the greenlight. The operations committee of city council has approved the addition of a net 2.4 kilometres of sidewalks to city clearing efforts and continuous sidewalk plowing.

Clean, Green, Beautiful is looking for the public to join them in their Fall Community-Wide Cleanup. It happens this Friday, September 19th. Businesses and schools are asked to rally a team of employees to clean their parking lots, properties, and local streets to help keep the city liter free.

As the city of Timmins discusses how to respond to encampments, it’s looking at having one designated site for tents. The Cochrane District Services Board (CDSB) is also still exploring its options for how to use nearly $3.2 million announced earlier this year to respond to encampments.

Meanwhile, Sault Ste. Marie is looking at safety options for the Black Road and Trunk intersection. Officials say if slip-lane crossing can be made safer for pedestrians, changes could apply citywide.
