The first day of the month brought three new out-of-control wildfires to the Northeast Region of Ontario. Among them, North Bay 32 is 12 hectares in size located about one km southwest of Pine Lake. North Bay 33 is 0.2 hectares and located one kilometre east of Restoule Lake.
On the heels of Monday’s announcement of a half-billion dollars in federal and provincial loans, Algoma Steel now says they will suffer an adjusted loss before deductions. Between $80 million and $90 million in its third quarter, which ended this week. Algoma is now expected to close its blast furnace and other relics of traditional steelmaking sooner than originally planned.
