
The five-week-long strike by 10,000 Ontario college support staff has come to an end. Support staff from Ontario’s 24 colleges are back on the job today for the first time, since almost the beginning of the school year.
Notching their largest annual budget increase in recent memory, the Greater Sudbury Police Service board have given the go-ahead to a 12.66-per-cent 2026 budget increase. Of the overall number, staff started out with an increase of approximately 16 per cent.

The Catholic school board in South Porcupine is adding 49 new child care spaces. Following a soft opening mid-September the infant, toddler and pre-school spaces are filling up from a pre-existing wait list as registered early childhood educators are hired and trained.

Ontario Premier part of sod-turning ceremony for new Wiikwemkoong Elders Home this past week. The ground has been cleared for a new 96-bed long-term care facility, a new Elders’ Home to replace the aging Wiikwemkoong Nursing Home.
