The city of Sudbury is adding 48 new units to its transitional housing inventory, and more than 100 affordable housing spaces. It’s all part of the work city council is doing to address homelessness, and some of the other issues that comes with it.
North Bay City Council has approved the water and wastewater operating budget for 2026. $31.1 million. It marks an increase of 5.27 per cent, or $1.45 million, compared to 2025.
The site of a former sawmill in Timmins is being favoured for transitional housing and a designated site for encampments. Timmins Mayor Michelle Boileau says it’s HOPE initiative 2.0. said services geared to the specific location.
Thirty athletes represented the Sault Surge Aquatic Team at the annual Border City Invitational this past weekend held in Windsor. Over 900 swimmers representing 21 clubs were in attendance with the Surge boys finishing 14th overall.
Sudbury residents are being asked to limit or defer visits to HSN. This is due to an increase in the number of Influenza A cases in region. It’s causing delayed wait times, including in the ER.

The snowbirds areal flight team will return to Northern Ontario in 2026. They will be in Kapuskasing September 12th and in North Bay June 10th.
Elain Johnson has been elected the new Algoma District School Board Chair. Jennifer Sarlo has been the chair for 14 years. She will stay on as a trustee or ward 1 in Sault Ste Marie.
