
The city of Sudbury is providing funds to support the hosting of 2 major curling events next year. 133k for the World Junior Mixed Doubles Curling Championships and the New Holland Canadian U20 Curling Championship.
The update from Public Health Sudbury & Districts says two active outbreaks have been reported at the Elizabeth Centre in Val Caron. The report also shows an active outbreak at the Extendicare Countryside nursing home and at the Manitoulin Centennial Manor. Restrictions have been put into place when it comes to visiting.
West Nipissing Fire and Emergency Service say a sprinkler system did it’s job and the kids did theirs following a fire at White Woods Public School in Sturgeon Falls yesterday. Firefighters arrived at 11:05 and saw heavy smoke coming from a classroom located in the northeast section of the school. The damage is estimated at around $500,000. At this time, the cause has not been determined.

Sault Ste. Marie city council have served notice they want to increase all parking fines by $10. It would come into effect during the 2026 fiscal year. In addition, during this week’s meeting councillors also agreed to look into increasing the cost of parking passes. Councillors approved a 2026 budget that will increase Sault Ste. Marie property tax bills by 3.87 per cent in 2026.
Timmins Police are looking for a teen who has been reported missing. Maya is described as a 15-year-old Caucasian female, around 5’2” and 95 pounds. She has blonde hair, hazel eyes, and a thin build. She was last seen wearing a black New Balance jacket, black sweater, brown boots, and carrying a black backpack with a carrot on it.
