Moose in the Loose
Police in Greater Sudbury say they were called out to help deal with a moose that decided to join Sunday traffic. The animal was said to be on Lasalle Boulevard, causing a number of issues before he was sedated. The MNR was also on hand to ensure the animals could be removed without harm. It has been relocated.
Students plant trees in North Bay
Thanks to some high schoolers Chippewa creek in the North Bay area has a stronger shoreline. 14 Grade 11 and 12 students from St. Joseph Scollard Hall were on hand to help move 175 Red Pine, White Pine, and Spruce saplings from the Second Avenue Nursery to the creek’s shore line to grow, minimizing storm water runoff into Chippewa Creek.
A Mud Run supports Alzheimer’s care
Dozens of people came to dive into the mud this weekend, in Timmins. A five-kilometer Mud Factor featured 15 obstacles over 5km all in support of the Alzheimer Society of Timmins-Porcupine at Porcupine Ski Runners. Runners chipped in $60, all of which will go toward supporting the local society in caregiver support and education.
Upgrades could cost 3/4 million
Estimating needs and doing a facility analysis is the first in getting a new Police building. That’s according to an inspector, in a recent penned out report on the current facility. Until then, conditions that are persistently either too hot or too cold could prompt the purchase of a new heating, ventilation and air conditioning system for Sault Ste. Marie Police Service’s aging headquarters. Doing so, could cost between $500,000 to $750,000. Electrical maintenance pegged at about $180,000 is planned for later this year.
Mischief under investigation
Greater Sudbury Police say that they’re looking for a those responsible in regard to a mischief. They say they responded to shots fired at a window of a local business. Upon further investigation they say that it appears as though an airsoft riffle on front side of Damascus Bakery. Officers continue to canvas the area, and search for video surveillance.
Missing Teen found safe
A missing teen in the North Bay area, gone a week… has been found safe and sound. North Bay Police say this is after 15-year-old Josh Doucette disappeared on May 25th. He has been located without incident.
