Cambrian College jumping into Oral Health month

April is National Oral Health Month. And those at Cambrian College are getting on board. Throughout April, dental assisting and hygiene students will be working in the college’s community dental clinic, offering free dental services for children 18 years old and under. All work will be done under the supervision of a dentist.
 

Water main break slows traffic, re-routs transit

A water main break in Greater Sudbury interrupted the weekend for a number of residences. It happened on Murray Street late Saturday between Bond Street and Leslie Street. Repairs were expected to be completed by Sunday morning but persisted well into the evening affecting traffic, as well as Transit.
 

FIRST team takes top spot

Robotics, FIRST Team 1305 known as Ice Cubed from North Bay have repeated as champions. This was at the North Bay District Robotics Competition, Saturday at Nipissing University. Partnering with two teams, from Elmira and Oakville, they lost the first match in the best-of-three series but came back to win the final two matches.
 

Timmins puts load restrictions in place

Timmins is the latest community to instituting its annual reduced load limits on several roads. As the roads continue to thaw, the rules take effect today. Commercial vehicles, dump trucks, logging trucks and ore trucks are restricted to five tonnes per axle.
 

“Luxury Building” to be decided upon tonight

Sault Ste. Marie city council will decide tonight on a new 12 storey apartment complex suggested for a vacant lot. The land is located at Gladstone Ave. and McDonald Ave. The developers say the luxury units would take approximately 1.5 years to complete. The town currently uses the land as a snow dump.
 

11/17 Highway on rehab list for roads

The Province of Ontario will spend $291 million to rebuild and restore 32 highway projects in Northeastern Ontario this year. The goal will be to create jobs for Ontario’s construction industry while working to keep the highways safe. Projects include the rehabilitation of the North Junction of Hwy 17/11 in North Bay.

Teen caught going 50km over the limit

Sudbury OPP has pulled a teen speeder off the road. While they won’t say how fast he was going specifically, he was caught going at least 50 km/h over the speed limit on Highway 69 in Greater Sudbury. The 19-year-old was charged with stunt driving.
