Member of Canadore College Tests Positive for COVID-19

Among three new cases of COVID-19 confirmed by the North Bay Parry Sound Health unit. Canadore College has confirmed a member of the school community has tested positive for COVID-19. The person reported their positive test result to the college and is currently self-isolating. The college says the person believes they were exposed to COVID-19 through travel.
 

4 new cases of COVID-19 reported by Sudbury Health Unit

Public Health Sudbury & Districts is reporting four new cases of COVID-19. Through contact tracing, Public Health will notify all close contacts directly. One is a close contact of a known case, one is outbreak related, and two remain under investigation.
 

Decision on “Lock down Protocols” could be coming from Ontario today

A decision could be coming today from the Province as to next steps in COVID-19 lockdown protocols. This is as case counts continue to rise. Yesterday showed the province could see 6,500 new cases per day by mid-December. Premier Doug Ford says he will receive a briefing from his health team in the morning and will then “make a decision.”
 

Timmins Police looking at a 2.25% budget increase

Timmins Police is proposing an increase to next year’s budget. 2.25 per cent. It was presented at this week’s police services board meeting. The overall proposed net expenditure for 2021 is $16.7 million, which is an increase of just over $360,000 from the 2020 budget and would be used for a prisoner transport vehicle, replacing a number of needed front line tools, and live scan units for fingerprinting.
 

PUB warning of a phone scam

The PUC has issued a scam warning. This is after someone from the Provincial Government is calling looking for information and access to homes in order to determine if the homeowners qualify for energy rebates. The PUC says no one from the utility is calling people looking for financial information and to hang up.
 

Three Vehicles towed from the scene of a collision in North Bay

A multi-vehicle collision on Fisher Street in North Bay was thankfully without injury. North Bay Fire and Emergency Services responded to a three-vehicle collision at about 4:30 p.m. between First Avenue East and Worthington Street East. All three vehicles were towed. There was no word as to the cause.
