One Northern Ontario Region will remain in lock down, the others will not

The stay-at-home order will remain in effect for the Nipissing and Parry Sound districts until at least Feb. 22. That was the announcement today from the Province of Ontario. The catchment area will join Peel Public Health, Toronto Public Health and York Region Public Health under their existing shutdown measures. Twenty-seven other public health units will move into the province’s colour-coded framework next Tuesday, February 16th at 12:01am. Among them Public Health Sudbury and Districts will move into the Orange-Restrict, as will the Porcupine Health Unit. The Temiskaming Health Unit will move in the Green, while Algoma Public Health will move to the Yellow.
By the numbers today,
The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit reported five new cases of COVID-19 today, with two new cases in Nipissing District and three in Parry Sound District. Two of the new cases are associated with an outbreak, two are through close contact with a case and the other is under investigation.
The North Bay regional heath centre says “a health care worker on site has tested positive for COVID-19”. The hospital is working closely with the Health Unit to complete contact tracing.
Elsewhere Public Health Sudbury and districts reported 3-new cases of COVID-19. All three are in Greater Sudbury.
Elsewhere, a facility-wide outbreak at Pioneer Manor in Greater Sudbury now includes seven cases. Of the numbers, five of the COVID-19 infections are among residents. Two are staff members. The outbreak at the Notre Dame Avenue facility was declared on Sunday.
