Greater Sudbury gets an “AA credit rating with a stable outlook”

The City of Greater Sudbury has received an AA credit rating with a stable outlook. That’s from Standard & Poor’s and one of the best. It’s received the grade every year since 2018. The credit rating is an assessment of the financial health of the municipality based on factors such as historic financial performance, policies, economic growth and long-term plans.
 

North Bay OPP investigating a fatal collision

North Bay OPP is continuing to investigating a fatal, single transport collision on Highway 17. It happened east side of Mattawa Saturday morning. The Hwy was closed for several hours. Detours were set up. There is no word as to the cause.

The Beef Farmers of Temiskaming is putting up the help wanted sign. The farm organization aiming to represent in interests and activities beef farmers in the District of Temiskaming is seeking a part-time Secretary Treasurer for their board of directors. Sudbury Police looking for ATV driver following a run-in with officers… literally

Sudbury Police are requesting assistance from the public to find a side-by-side ATV and its driver. The driver, drove into police vehicles allegedly trying to escape custody in a larger incident. It happened early morning yesterday on Regent Street near the McDonald’s restaurant.  The driver is described as an older male with a handlebar moustache. The ATV is likely to have damages as a result of this incident.
 

It’s fire prevention week in Ontario

It’s Fire Prevention Week and this year’s fire safety theme is “Learn the Sounds of Fire Safety.” By law, every home in Ontario must have a working smoke alarm on every storey, and outside all sleeping areas however, too often fatal fires in Ontario occur in homes where there were no working smoke alarms.
 

Otranto resigns as VALE’s COO of North Atlantic Operations and Asian Refineries

Dino Otranto has left his position as chief operating officer at Vale’s North Atlantic Operations and Asian Refineries in Sudbury. It’s all to take a position with the Australian mining company Fortescue Metals Group. He starts his new position as COO of iron ore with the Perth-based miner starting in November.
 

Permits for Sledders now available online

The OFSC says snowmobile trail permits… are now available online. The group says with a favourable winter forecast, they’re hoping to get the trails ready early this year.  This year the “Save Our Trails” initiative is encouraging riders are asked to watch an anti-trespass message and to respect landowners who allow trails on their property.
