Sudbury City Council talks Greenway

Sudbury city council is bringing the $8.5 million dollar Elgin Street Greenway project to the table this evening. If approved, work would begin this year and would include things like upgrades to the Riverside Drive pedestrian tunnel. The city has already set aside $1 million for the project while the federal and provincial governments have been asked to contribute $1 million each.
In addition, Sudbury City council will try, within the next week, to find the balance between making community halls accessible to non-profit groups and minimizing costs to taxpayers. This is after one report says non-profits make up 85 per cent of the bookings at the municipality’s 18 community halls and yet collectively, the halls ran a deficit of $160,000 in 2016 and $146,322 in 2015.
