Greater Sudbury’s Bell is open once again following a police investigation. Access to Bell Park was restricted for a time yesterday.

Many in Northern Ontario now have their eye on hockey season as Sudbury has been chosen to host Elliot Lake’s Kraft Hockeyville NHL pre-season game. Game to feature Ottawa Senators and Pittsburgh Penguins Sept. 29th

The City of North Bay is working toward on the enforcement when it comes to the pigeon feeding by-law. Fines are supposed to range from $100 for feeding pigeons or depositing food likely to attract pigeons and obstructing or failing to comply with an order carries a $200 penalty.

In Timmins, the BIA says the new way of combining the urban park that runs Wednesdays and the farmers market that goes Thursdays into one day a week is working well, bringing out plenty from the public.

Fire officials are reporting one small new wildfire in the northeastern Ontario fire region. The fire, confirmed Wednesday, is about 30 km northwest of Elliot Lake in the Sault Ste. Marie fire district. Sault Ste. Marie 8 is a 0.4 hectare fire that not yet under control.

Line ups at the Sudbury Landfill will continue… at least for now. Repairing the scales is going to take a month or two longer than expected. Repairs that were scheduled to be completed today will now take until September or October.

North Bay Police are warning the public about several reports of rental fraud over the past two months. They include fake ads, the collection of money ahead of property use and the renting of property already in use.

A new phone app has launched in Timmins. Known as Humming Bird, the goal is to connect business owners with outreach workers to aid those in need around their businesses.

The former main terminal building at the Gore Bay-Manitoulin Airport has now been demolished. All in the name of upgrades… the air terminal building built int 1947 is gone as part of a major upgrade.

In Elliot Lake, the topic of replacing the Fire Tower Lookout playground equipment while spurring a lengthy discussion at council this week has once again been deferred for another time.
