Next week, Greater Sudbury city council will decide how to rehabilitate the College Street underpass. Built in 1949, the oldest bridge in the city needs repairs.

Bonfield residents will soon have a new municipal website at their fingertips. Council agreed to redesign its site to make it more user-friendly for visitors and to also make it easier for staff to upload content on the back end.

Talks of an Indigenous-focused structure in Timmins’ main park are still ongoing. Ideas on what the permanent structure could be were talked about at this weeks Indigenous Advisory Committee.

$3M will help Elliot Lake arena reopen. The city has received funds though local support for the Centennial Arena restoration.

Preparatory work for the eventual demolition of the former hospital in Sault Ste Marie has begun, with Green Infrastructure partners workers, vehicles and garbage skips on site.

Body cameras to capture interactions with Greater Sudbury police are a go for 2025. They’re started with 30 body-worn cameras, with training on how exactly to use them starting next month.

In North Bay, motorists traveling within the Airport and Duxford Road intersection can expect minor delays today. Members of 22 Wing/Canadian Forces Base North Bay and community volunteers will be collecting non-perishable food items.

In TIMMINS Safety concerns are among the key reasons there won’t be a trailer at the city’s outdoor skating path this winter. That said, the city still plans to install the path at Hollinger Park.

Here’s some good news… Experts say… the level of lake trout in Lake Superior has been fully recovered in most of the lake. In the mid 1900’s there was a decline resulting in “extremely low levels” due to “extensive overfishing and the devastation due to non-native, predatory wildlife. That, now in 2024… has all be restored.

The City of Greater Sudbury is selling another five single-family homes to a non-profit organization in the city. The hope is to see them renovate them into two units each, for 10 units total.

Northern Development Minister Greg Rickford was in Timmins this week to make a NOHFC funding announcement. $1.8 million for seven projects in the area.

Students in Sault College’s business accounting program have a new learning pathway that will hopefully help them start to a career. The college welcomed officials from Registered Professional Accounting Canada for a signing ceremony this week.
