Laurentian University in Sudbury is lending a hand to families with young children. They say Campus Kids has 26 new daycare spots. That will bring the total number of spaces to 100, with 24 registered early childhood educators on staff.

The owner of a missing Boston Terrier in North Bay was relieved Thursday morning to finally reunite with the dog. Fendi, a Boston Terrier, was reported missing on a missing animals social media page called Buster’s Page on Facebook, on Thursday, April 17, near Cassells and Main Street West.

The Timmins area is under a flood watch. The watch includes Porcupine Lake, Mattagami River, Town Creek, Kamiskotia Lake and Porcupine River

The ER Department at the Thessalon site is they have no choice but to close temporarily starting today. It’s all due to a doctor shortage and takes place from 8 a.m. April 25 until 8 a.m. April 27

HSN has a 5-year roadmap which includes plans to expand hospital size. The Sudbury hospital has released a strategic plan that goes until 2030 addressing northerners’ complex health needs. For the second straight year, the North Bay Police Service finished a year with a surplus.

The North Bay Police Service announced it had a $1.47 million surplus in 2024. In 2023, that surplus was estimated to be close to $1 million.

Meanwhile, Timmins Police says the warmer weather marks a time to recruit. Three officers and two special constables have been added to the complement so far this year.

The city of Sault Ste Marie has issued a friendly reminder that garbage and recycling collection have both been moved back a day this week due to Easter Monday. They’ve put together the following charts to help residents understand when collection will occur.

The Sudbury fire department says with two ladder trucks breaking down and their third more than 20 years old and staff lacking training on it, they’re currently without access to a ladder truck. Discussions are underway as to how to close the gap.

It’s the end of an era in the region for another politician. Charlie Angus posted a farewell to Parliament video on YouTube, sharing footage of him closing down his office in Ottawa. He’s one of a number of Politian’s not running for re-election in North ern Ontario, including Anthony Rota.

Sault Ste. Marie Region Conservation Authority says the forecasts indicate 25 to 35 mm of rainfall over the next five days, accompanied by a temperature increase ranging from 5 C to 15 C. means water levels are under close watch.

Meanwhile, residents along a river that runs through Iron Bridge are being warned about possible flooding as waters rise at a dam northwest of the town.
