Starting today, Ontario Northland passengers can use their bus tickets to access North Bay Transit. The initiative aims to improve connectivity for the “first and last mile” of trips. This six-month pilot project that will make transportation in Nipissing more cost-efficient for people travelling on the Ontario Northland buses.
The Temiskaming Hospital will soon have a new full-time surgeon joining its medical team.. marking a return to permanent surgical services. Dr. Nicole Falls, a general surgeon relocating from the United States, will join Temiskaming Hospital’s medical team in August.
The flood warning Conservation Sudbury put in place for the Vermilion River area between Chelmsford and Whitefish has been extended to include McCharles Lake. Further, parts of Dowling near the Onaping River are now under a flood watch. All other watercourses in Greater Sudbury remain under a flood outlook.
Meanwhile, residents in the Timmins area with properties near waterways are advised to be prepared for conditions to change rapidly. The Mattagami Region Conservation Authority has issued a flood watch for the Timmins area which includes Porcupine Lake, the Porcupine River, the Mattagami River, Town Creek, and Kamiskotia Lake.

In Sault Ste Marie, $50,000 is needed to track city hall leaks. City council is being asked for $50,000 to remove all remaining apertures at the civic c entre. The new cladding and windows on what is now called the Ronald A. Irwin Civic Centre were supposed to last 40 or 50 years. Seven years after the $6.9-million construction project started, the building is still leaking.

Canadians are casting their votes today in the federal election… today is election day after a record-breaking 7.3 million Canadians cast ballots in advance polls, up from 5.8 million in 2021. In Ontario, polls close at 9:30pm.
Many jobs in Sudbury–Manitoulin are going unfilled. That’s according to a Workforce Planning report identifying barriers and the apparent disconnect in matching job hunters with employers. They say, on average, there are 2,500 new jobs posted every month on its job board in its coverage area.

Sault Ste. Marie Police are looking for a person who has been reported missing. Robert was last seen Sunday, April 27 in the 100 block of Fauquier Avenue. The 55-year-old is described as six feet tall with a thin build, short black hair and blue eyes.
