Automated speed-enforcement cameras are popping up in new locations in Sudbury. Six in all will be moving to new locations. Cameras are relocated every four months as they shift through the city’s list of priority locations. They go live on Monday.
Meanwhile, the North Bay Police Service Board has appointed Inspector Jeff Warner to the position of Acting Deputy Chief effective June 2. The news comes only a week after the North Bay Police Service stated that Deputy Chief Mike Daze was on “approved leave.”

The North Bay Police Service has added another front line officer. Bryan McKean, has joined the local service after spending 16 years with the Guelph Police Service. He has experience on Patrol, in the Tactical Unit, and in the In-Service Training Unit.

The McIntyre Community Complex building in Timmins, affectionately known as The Mac, has now officially become a heritage property. This week, in the facility’s auditorium, which doubles as the Timmins Sports Heritage Hall of Fame, a sizeable crowd gathered for the ceremony.
Sault Ste. Marie police are looking into a damaged window. It happened following an incident at Destiny Christian Centre on Wallace Terrace. Surveillance equipment was activated just after 1 am on Monday. There were no reported injuries.
City council will be asked next week to approve a master plan for Sault Ste. Marie’s waterfront, including a $17-million first phase that would redevelop Clergue and John Rowswell parks. If councilors agree, the municipal accommodation tax charged on hotel rooms will be increased from four to six per cent effective Sept. 1 of this year, to help pay for the re-imagined waterfront.
