Greater Sudbury residents in Garson, Falconbridge, and surrounding areas reported feeling a tremor Saturday morning. It happened following a seismic event near Vale’s Garson Mine site. It was a 2.6 magnitude seismic event. There was no damage, and no injuries.

97 paddlers in 55 canoes, kayaks and stand-up paddle have completed another staple of the recreation community in Nipissing. The Mattawa River Race. Leaving Olmsted Beach on Trout Lake for a gruelling 64 km journey ending at the Mattawa Island Conservation Area. An additional, 15 participants joined in the last 13 km of the race, leaving from Samuel de Champlain Provincial Park.

Detours are in place in Timmins today, if you use the Mountjoy St. area. City Hall says Mountjoy on either side of Algonquin Blvd. will be closed for paving between until 9:00pm. Mountjoy North will be closed at Vimy, Laurier, Borden, Sixth and Fifth Aves.

One new forest fire was reported in the Northeast Region on Saturday. Sudbury 21 is 0.1 hectares and is located approximately 750 metres east of Highway 529, approximately 2 km west of Highway 69, and 3 km northeast of Naiscoot Lake. MNR Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services reports that the fire is under control.

The Woodward Ave. project has prompted a street closure in Blind River. Drivers in Blind River and working around a short-term detour as construction work will close a section of Wishart (Robb) Street has started.
