An open house has been planned for Trout Lake watershed policy proposals. It’s happening on September 10th. North Bay will host an open house event to showcase proposed planning policies that could shape future development around Trout Lake, Four Mile Lake, and nearby streams.

Starting today, the main arena entrance at the McIntyre Community Building in Timmins will be closed until the end of October. The city will make improvements to the entrance to comply with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.

In Elliot Lake, council will meet tonight at 7 to hear presentations about arena concerns, three key appointments for the building and by-law, and the proposed procedure by-law returns. The council will also conduct a closed-session discussion about succession planning.

Long Lake residents are calling for a unique ban, for some… a call to prohibit wake-surfing. A group has compiled a petition of 110 names to get wake-surfing banned along the most populous eastern bay of the body of water. They note as popular as it is, the lake is too small.

Greater Sudbury Police Service and the Police Services Board want to hear from the public. Notably they’re halfway mark of their shared 2024-2027 strategic direction. The board is looking to get public feedback on how the police service is living up to the spirit of the strategic plan.

Eleven municipalities in Nipissing are getting $4.82 million in federal infrastructure funding this year. The funding is through the Canada Community-Building Fund.  The City of North Bay receives the lion’s share, over $3.4 million.

Highway 17 in Sables-Spanish Rivers, closed due to a collision has reopened. The closure was reported at 8:42 a.m.
