Sudbury city council is looking at a new build. A 15-megawatt solar panel array that could be built on vacant land at the north end of the Greater Sudbury Airport property. During Tuesday’s city council meeting, the city’s elected officials gave the proposal their unanimous support.

Air Canada will be scaling back its service to North Bay. The airports says the reduction will started in November. That said, Bearskin Airlines is increasing its service to areas in northern Ontario, including North Bay and Sault Ste. Marie.

Support staff at Ontario’s publicly funded colleges are on strike, as they failed to reach a new contract agreement before the deadline of midnight. The 10,000 full-time college support staff, represented by the Ontario Public Service Employees Union, are seeking better wages, benefits, and job security, and were in a legal strike position as of 12:01 a.m.

Sault Ste Marie Police are investigating after someone called 9-1-1 last night, claiming to have planted a bomb at Sault Area Hospital. Sault Police officers were sent to the scene, and the threat prompted the hospital to activate emergency protocols, causing “significant disruption”. Police say the threat, which came in around 9:15 p.m., turned out to be “unfounded”.

One Kids Place in North Bay plays host to its annual ‘Meet A Machine’ event this weekend. The free family-friendly event runs from 10 am to 1 pm Saturday and provides an opportunity for the community to get up close with a variety of machines and vehicles. There will be fire trucks and emergency vehicles, construction equipment, a drilling vehicle and a jet engine.

The Timmins Police Service are asking for the public’s help in locating a second missing youth in just as many days. Breyden is a 14-year-old person of colour. He is approximately 6’3″ and 187 lbs. with dark brown hair, dark brown eyes and a thin build. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, blue jeans and black running shoes.
