The city of Sudbury is invited to clean things up… in Junction Creek clean-up to mark World Clean-up Day. The event will take place on Sept. 19 from 5-6:30 p.m. at the New Sudbury Centre

Northern Heights in North Bay has officially replaced the aging Water’s Edge facility.
After years of planning and construction, residents have begun moving into the newly opened Northern Heights Community, a modern 160-bed long-term care facility by Sienna Senior Living.

A power outage is affecting thousands of people in Timmins has been restored. At their height, two separate outages impacted over 5,500.

A portion of Sault College’s full-time staff could be on strike by midnight on Thursday evening. That said, officials are adamant that college operations would continue if the strike proceeds.

The Ontario government is investing $180,000 in projects led by the Manitoulin Streams Improvement Association to protect and strengthen creeks and rivers.. These restoration projects will improve local water quality, promote healthy fisheries and increase biodiversity.

When the snow comes calling… Continuous sidewalk plowing should be permanent. That’s from Sudbury City staff have recommended that a boost in sidewalk winter maintenance efforts which has been in place for the past two winter seasons be made permanent.

The discussion is on about how to increase safety in the downtown core of Sudbury. Between January 1 and August 27, 2025, officers conducted 2,189 focused patrols and responded to 6,189 calls for service.

An annual campaign can be seen rolling through Timmins once again. The City of Timmins’ Orange Bus is honouring the late Indigenous artist Shaun Hedican. For the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation on Sept. 30, the Timmins on Spruce Street and at the museum will also be lit orange.

There were thankfully no reported injuries after a vehicle crashed through the brick wall of an eatery in Sault Ste Mare in a dramatic collision early this morning. It happened on Trunk Road. The building’s landlord has already contacted Police.

While the Swing Bridge Connecting Manitoulin Island to the mainland is need of work, some with the Town of Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands says the bridge needs to be replaced over being repaired. The town has not received any updates on bids the MTO is taking for rehabilitation for, at least, some of the work.
