One Kids Place Children’s Treatment Centre in North Bay has a new hand at the helm. Gisèle Hébert is the new interim executive director. This comes as the outgoing director Brenda Loubert announced her decision to retire from the role after five years of leadership and service.

A full work stoppage by Timmins Transit employees has halted all public bus service within the city and is continuing to picket in front of city hall. In response to the disruption, Northern College has arranged for a private bus company to shuttle students.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is requesting the public’s help in finding an Ontario Heritage plaque gone missing from the side lawn of a Cathedral on Queen Street East. The plaque is described as 24 inches in height, 24 inches in width, and made of brass.

And a love of trains big and small will be celebrated this weekend in North Bay with members of the Ontario Northland Railway Historical and Technical Society. They’re gathering for their annual convention. The ONR ‘Railfans’ will be held on the second floor of the North Bay Museum, which used to be the Canadian Pacific Railway train station for anyone who cho-choo’ses to drop by.

The Greater Sudbury Airport is adding direct flights to Ottawa to their roster. The airline line Propair is joining their commercial flights schedule.

Anyone up for some curling? The North Bay Granite Club celebrates 75 years this weekend, and to mark the milestone, 75 continuous ends of curling will start this evening. It is expected to go into tomorrow.

A missing Timmins teen has been located safe and sound. Alexandra was a missing person and has been located in good health.

After three weeks of demonstrating from the sidewalks surrounding the campus, striking full-time support staff at Sault College have began stalling vehicles from entering parking lots. The union has begun to hold up vehicle traffic entering Sault College to educate those crossing the picket line about the reasons for the strike.

Five Manitoulin-Sudbury paramedics have been awarded exemplary service medals. All from different areas, the Medal they get recognizes a minimum of 20 years of experience in the Paramedic Services profession and who have shown themselves to be of the highest quality both within and outside of the workplace

And the PUC, the Sault Ste. Marie Public Utilities Commission says they’re giving out water for free… kind of. The city-owned company that’s provided residents with drinking water for 118 years is rigging up a ‘Quench Buggy’ to hand out free water at community events. It is expected to get started next month… set to drink in city events.
