R.G. Dow Pool in Copper Cliff is closed until 11 am today. Closed yesterday morning, it was due to mechanical issues. All programming in that time frame is cancelled.

Greater Sudbury will take another look at providing places to play the game of cricket. During a recent meeting of the community and emergency services committee, a motion to consider “an action plan for local cricket infrastructure developments to meet the needs of the future growth of the sport” was affirmed.

North Bay City fire crews have turned a structure fire scene over to the North Bay Police Service for investigation. It happened at a newly built home on Shallot Crescent just ahead of the weekend. Nobody was in the newly built home at the time it was available for sale.

A section of laneway in downtown Timmins will be closed for general public use after a vote by city council. The section in question lies between Spruce Street South and Pine Street South, north of Third Avenue.

The Provincial Transportation ministry in Ontario has confirmed the Gardiner ferry will to be dry-docked for repairs this winter. That said, the community of Gardiner Township consists of about 60 properties whose residents rely on a cable ferry that has been out of service seven times in recent years.

Temiskaming Shores has approved a new roof for one of it’s arenas. It’s going on the Don Shepherd Memorial Arena. Slated to go on in the Spring.

Searchmont was the first ski hill to open in Ontario this weekend. Despite experiencing abundant rainfall in November, Searchmont Resort, located 45 minutes north of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., says it made enough artificial snow to open two runs this weekend… as they slide into the weekend.

The City of Greater Sudbury made a notable stamp today. December has been declared Christian Heritage Month in the city. It happened today at 10am. The proclamation was read out loud followed by some remarks from city leaders.

Meanwhile, a major milestone in the redevelopment of the Cassellholme long-term care facility in North Bay took place over the weekend. Officials said 142 residents were moved into the new facility. Residents are being moved into the building in stages as each part of the new building is completed.

Hydro One in the Timmins area says they will remain on high alert during storms. In short, workers, resources and equipment are ready with an eye on the sky and on various weather apps for where the most snow is predicted.

A reminder is being handed out to Elliot Lake residents. The Elliot Lake Fire Services will kick off its 35th Annual Christmas Food Drive on Saturday, December 6, running from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. They will be out in the community collecting non-perishable food items.

A missing Sault Ste. Marie has been located safe and sound. Mya Johnson was the subject of a missing person’s report. She has been located in good health.

The Salvation Army Temiskaming Church has launched it’s Kettle Campaign. It will run until the end of season.
