The City of Greater Sudbury is accepting nominations for the 2026 Civic Awards. Entering its 26th year, the Civic Awards aim to honour individuals and groups whose work has made an impact in the community. Nominations will be accepted until March 2 at 4:30 p.m.

Bonfield says the problem of feral cats is back… and council is taking action. Councilors have approved enforcement measures under the township’s Animal Control By-law. New measures allow bylaw officers to humanely trap cats without tags impound them for up to 72 hours.

Northeast Tri-Board Student Transportation is offering an update, indicating service is resuming on many routes in the Timmins area. As of today, 57 of the 77 buses are back in service, up 10 from yesterday. That said, 33 of those buses having some stops that are not being made.

The Sault Ste. Marie Airport is once again reminding travelers to check their flights before they head to the airport. The airport said we could receive local snowfall totals between 15 and 30 cm. Hazardous travel conditions are likely, and extra time could be needed for travel.

The city is reminding anglers to be mindful when ice fishing. While ice huts have popped up once again on lake Temagami, those especially on skidoo’s are encouraged to always be mindful of ice depth as it can fluctuate during the season due to the fresh thaw phenomenon.

The Salvation Army in Liskeard is benefiting from a special donation. 70 birthday kits. They came in the week from the Lafontaine family. Salvation Army Major Gerry Lindholm was there to accept from the little family. They were all to help those who were without on their birthday.

Rallies will be happening all across Northern Ontario in various locations and at various times all in e name of safety. This is as municipal leaders in a number of communities warn conditions along Highways 11 and 17 have reached an unacceptable level of risk, and they are calling on the Province to take action.
