The discussion is ongoing on how to curb narcotics related incidents, nearly doubled last month, compared to same time one year ago. Public Health Sudbury and District say Sudbury Paramedics responded to 60 such calls in January of this year as opposed to 36 such calls in 2025.

Addiction and homelessness advocates in Sault Ste. Marie have a new aid… a new 24/7 outreach and wellness response team. It’s part of a two-year, $3.5 million federal investment. It takes the form of three outreach and mobile wellness vehicles – two SUVs and a former ambulance.

The federal government’s 2 billion Trees Program has directly benefitted Ontario, including northern regions. Over 988 million trees were committed nationwide as of June 2025, and now, almost 200,000 new trees to come warmer weather are expected to take root in region.
