30 – 50 mm of rain possible for tonight

Those in North Bay and area, along with those in Espanola, Killarney or Manitoulin Island need to batten down the hatches. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to begin this evening, bringing possible rainfall amounts of 30 to 50 mm by Wednesday morning. This rainfall is due to a low-pressure system that is expected to track east across Lake Superior today.

Meanwhile, Heavy rainfall has prompted the Sault Ste. Marie Region Conservation Authority (SSMRCA) to issue a flood outlook statement for the area.  With 30 to 50 mm of rain possible tomorrow, there may be localized flooding in areas with low drainage.
