Joshua 1:1 I will not leave you or forsake you

Joshua 1:5 No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you or forsake you.

Joshua has just taken over from Moses in leading all of Isreal. For 40 years the people have been in the wilderness, and its time to take the promised land. And here we read a promise of God; a reassurance that as Joshua goes forward he will not go it alone. And to that end, he will never leave him nor forsake him.
