OPP warning of Cottage Scam

OPP is warning those trying to squeeze out the last weeks of summer with a vacation, of a cottage rental scam, online. In short, scammers utilize common marketplace sites such as KIJIJI to advertise cottages for rent. Money is exchanged for rental agreements, and vacationers arrive to find the cottage they believe they have rented, it is not a rental at all. Diligence is encouraged, and authorities add if it all seems too good to be true…it probably is.
