Mattawa OPP have reopened Highway 17 following a fatal collision. The crash happened near Highway 630 in Calvin Township. Preliminary information is that an eastbound SUV collided with a westbound pickup truck. The investigation continues.
Elsewhere OPP near Noelville say that a teen visiting from the US is believed to have drowned near Bear Lake, in French River. The teen, who was from North Dakota, was found in the lake and taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The OPP has concluded their investigation and does not suspect foul play.
Meanwhile, the Ontario Provincial Police has identified the missing swimmer, last seen in the Ottawa River Saturday. He is 40-year-old Arthur Lavoie of Mattawa. Police are continuing the search today.
