Suspicious Briefcase found at Sudbury Complex

A scary moment ended without incident yesterday, in Greater Sudbury. St. Andrew’s Place, an apartment complex and church, was evacuated yesterday afternoon following the discovery of a suspicious briefcase. The Sudbury Police explosives unit was called in and a controlled charge was done to disable the contents, but ultimately nothing explosive was found inside.
 

Truck rollover on Highway 63

There is no word yet as to injuries or charges following a significant rollover of a Transport Truck.  The incident happened just over the dinner hour Wednesday on Highway 63, near Feronia Road. The roadway has been cleared… as details as to what lead to lead to the incident are under investigation.
 

New signs going up in Timmins

Resident in Timmins will soon see new signs pointing the way for visitors this spring. New bilingual wayfinding tourism signs are going up thanks to $60,000 in from a number of organizations including places including the Timmins Economic Development Corporation, Timmins Museum, Downtown Timmins BIA, Tourism Northern Ontario, and FedNor.
 

Locks will be opened this Sunday

Those wishing to travel between Sault Ste. Marie Ontario, and Sault Ste. Marie Michigan… via the locks will be able to hop in the car as early as Sunday. The U.S. Coast Guard cutters have been breaking ice in the area as part of Spring Breakout in preparation for the seasonal opening of the Soo Locks.
 

35-year old facing drug charges

A 35-year old Timmins Man is facing significant drug charges. This is following a search warrant at a local residence.  As a result, police seized a number of Fentanyl strips, as well as Morphine tablets. The estimated street value of the drugs seized is approximately $340.
 

Smoke alarm not properly mounted

While the cause of a deadly blaze in North Bay has not been released, a solemn reminder has.  An improperly mounted smoke alarm has been pulled from what’s left of a residence on Front Street. North Bay fire is reminding everyone to ensure their alarm is properly installed and working. An 89-year-old male was transported to hospital and pronounced diseased
