More than 900k headed to arts
Roughly $900,800 has been invested into Sudbury’s art community. This is thanks to the Ontario Arts Council (OAC) and Ontario Music Fund (OMF). The announcement was made by MPP Glen Thibeault, who acknowledged the work of musicians, artists and arts organizations from Sudbury. The full list includes Art Gallery of Sudbury, Northern Lights Festival Boréal, and Cinéfest Sudbury International Film Festival.
Missing: Jessica Otosquaiob, 20
The Greater Sudbury Police Service is currently seeking the public’s assistance in locating a missing person from the Sudbury area, Jessica Otosquaiob who is 20 years of age, has been reported missing by a friend, who last spoke to Jessica over three-weeks-ago. Jessica is described as being -5’8 140lbs dark hair, dark eyes.
Internet, Cell Service to pull out of Foleyet
Residents in Foleyet, just east of Timmins may be without service. Reports say that cellphone and internet services may soon have the plug pulled, due to apparent costs of renting equipment space for the communications tower. Reports say that while cellphone and internet technology in the area is relatively new.
Soo woman attacked by Bear
A Sault Ste. Marie Woman is recovering, following a bear attack. It happened while she was walking with her dog out in the 600 block of Old Goulais Bay Road…. In the same area were a mother bear and cubs were. The woman received several puncture wounds, as well as some cuts to her head, before other family members were able to scare the bears off. She has since been treated in Hospital.
Street sweeping under way in Sudbury
Sudbury drivers headed to work this morning are reminded to drive with care as the city’s street sweeping program is finally underway. It will run through until mid-June. Currently, business centers, sensitive drainage areas and the Sudbury Rocks Marathon route are areas of priority.
Two wanted in break and enter
North Bay police are seeking the public’s help investigating a break and enter. It happened early this morning at a Fisher Street business. Police say, once inside, the first suspect broke open a sunglasses display and removed multiple pairs. The second suspect went to a different area removing sporting goods. They exited through the front door. Police say an older model, light-colored extended-cab pickup was seen in the area shortly before the break-in and that the value of the items taken is roughly $6,000.
