Scam rips off a Sudbury couple
A roadside scam has gotten the better of two Greater Sudbury residents. This was after they thought they were helping a driver in distress on Long Lake Road. The woman said her and her husband were driving in the city’s South End when they came upon a man in his 30’s pulled over on the side of the road. They said they gave the man money for gas, before a follow-up involving Police revealed it was all an act.
Break and Enter under investigation
Greater Sudbury Police say they’re investigating a break and enter. They say it took place at a residential unit in the area of Lasalle Boulevard in New Sudbury. The suspect entered an unlocked home while the resident was present and fled before being identified.
Uniform store set to close shop
Residents in North Bay, needing to be uniform fitted will soon be without a key provider. Lasalle Uniform Shoppe, the downtown retailer that outfitted North Bay’s medical professionals for is closing. The owners say they’re simply retiring after 30 years behind the counter. They say that in their time, they’ve helped thousands of nursing students, nurses, doctors, and restaurant staff find the duds they need.
Water main break closes school
Students and staff got an early dismissal yesterday from the O’Gorman High School in the Timmins area. This was all due to a water main break. The Northeastern Catholic District School Board says the building was closed for much of the afternoon. There is no word as to repair, as of yet.
Fire rips through a home in Sault Ste. Marie
Flames tore through a home in Sault Ste. Marie yesterday afternoon. It happened on the 1000 block of Third Line E. While a number of residents were at home at the time, they were able to get out before help arrived apparently without injury. They cause is to be determined.
Another Bear sighting in the Soo
Another bear sighting has been made in Sault Ste. Marie. This time a bear and two bear cubs were seen at the Circle K gas station. While there is no indication as to any threat to the public, residence are being reminded to be bear-wise.
