Rain continues to fall in Northern Ontario

Rain continues to fall across much of Northern Ontario this morning, and while the water content in the snow remains high… it is continuing the melt. Sue Buckle is with the North Bay Mattawa conservation authority and says the ongoing melt will be based on a number of factors.

Elsewhere, it’s going to be an especially cold start in Timmins today, as Freezing rain mixed with ice pellets will continue throughout the morning. According to environment Canada, this is all as a low pressure passes by to the south.
 

Slow down in the wet weather – Police

OPP are reminding drivers to slow down on the way out the door. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Drivers are encouraged to watch for taillights ahead and maintain a safe following distance.
 

A review requested for municipal services

A review is being called upon for all municipal services in Greater Sudbury. The motion is on the agenda for this coming week, at tomorrow’s meeting of city council. Ward 8 Councillor is asking that for a complete review, looking at which services are legislated and mandated, rate the importance of each service, and identify services that could possibly be discontinued.
 

Significant charges coming for 27-year-old man

North Bay Police have laid charges on a 27-year-old man, following a traffic accident. It happened late February on Pinewood Park Drive. Police say during the course of the investigation, a search of the accused’s vehicle resulted in significant illegal narcotics being discovered and over $3,000 in Canadian currency.
 

Dock replacement coming for this fall

Sault Ste Marie says new marina docks expected to be in place before summer. An $800,000 dock replacement job at Roberta Bondar Marina is expected to be complete before the height of the summer boating season begins in July.
 

Google coming to Greater Sudbury

Google is coming to Greater Sudbury. All to create economic opportunities in communities all across the country, grow with Google says their goal is to teach Sudburians, small business owners and entrepreneurs all the digital skills they need to grow their online presence. They will be at Science North on Friday.
