Sudbury Catalyst Fund offering a “leg up” to local businesses

Local business looking for a push to get started may be getting a leg up in Greater Sudbury. A new pool of money called the Sudbury Catalyst Fund, promises 5.3 million all up thanks to funding from FedNor ($3.3 million) the Nickel Basin Development Corporation ($1 million) and the Greater Sudbury Development Corporation ($1 million). The fund, a five-year pilot project -being administered by the Nickel Basin Development Corporation and its community partners, which include the Greater Sudbury Development Corporation and NORCAT- provides investments of up to $250,000 to qualifying early-stage and innovative firms operating within Greater Sudbury. Once complete, the pilot project is expected to help up to 20 start-up companies expand, creating up to 60 full-time high-quality local jobs.
