Greater Sudbury Public Beaches get a pre-season look
Public Health Sudbury and Districts say they are starting the pre-seasonal assessment of all public beaches. All to ensure public safety, this includes sampling the water for E. Coli and conducting safety checks for any hazards that might pose a threat.
YMCA looking to slowly re-start childcare and summer clubs
The YMCA in North Bay and Greater Sudbury childcare and summer club is getting ready for what they’re calling a gradual opening. It’s slated to start on June 29. The YMCA is now asking families and participants to fill out a survey.
Translation services coming to Timmins Police
Community members in Timmins from diverse backgrounds will soon have access to translation services. It’s all through the police services. The Timmins Police Services Board has unanimously approved purchasing interpreting services from a California-based Language company.
International Bridge Closed today for an hour
The International Bridge will be closed this morning for maintenance. Safety equipment onto the bridge will require a closure from 9 to 10 a.m. The work is all-weather dependant and funded by bridge tolls.
Fire site continue to be investigated
Three teams of investigators continue to probe a suspicious fire that caused extensive damage in Greater Sudbury. It happened at a downtown rooming house just before dawn Sunday in the 0-100 block of Beech St. Early damage estimates are $350,000-$400,000.
NIP-U studies the recovery of the local community, post-pandemic
Nipissing University says they are contributing to regional recovery research. University officials say the provincial government is funding 10 studies that aim to contribute to the recovery of the local community once the pandemic is over.

One new fire in Kirkland Lake
One new fire remains active in the region at the time of this update. Kirkland Lake 3 is under control at 0.8 of a hectares. This fire is located west of Elk Lake.
SSM Police looking into a break, enter and theft
Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is looking into an incident of break and enter and theft. This is after two unknown suspects entered Market Mall and proceeded to steal an ATM Machine from Canada Post using a crowbar and a hammer. The ATM Machine contained up to $2,000 at the time of the incident. The ATM was later located at the intersection of Prentice Avenue and Donna Drive.
