One new case of COVID-19 in the Algoma Health Unit area

The Algoma District has reported a new case of COVID-19. The unidentified individual was tested last Monday. The source of the infection is unknown. The resident is self-isolating. Close contacts have been notified.
 

Sudbury Police respond to weapons complaint, theft

Greater Sudbury Police responded to a weapons complaint yesterday. It happened in the area of Kathleen Street. While it’s not clear where any while no further details have been released, police did ask people to avoid the area into yesterday evening. The investigation is ongoing.
Meanwhile,
Greater Sudbury Police are seeking information in regard to a break and enter and theft from a business on The Kingsway. During the incident a red 2017 Honda CRF motorbike was stolen. It was spotted twice by witnesses, but thus far police have get to track down the bike and its driver.
 

The splash pad in North Bay shut off Tuesday, September 8th

The Family of Rotary’s Splash Pad in North Bay will shut the water off this coming Tuesday. It is all to allow for the final phase of construction of the facility to take place. A statement from the City of North Bay Thursday said the work will include the installation of sun shelters, picnic tables, additional benches and signage.
 

One Kids place; the hospital gets 200 masks

One Kids Place in North Bay and the North Bay Regional Health Centre have received 200 reusable masks through the Smilezone Foundation. Representatives from Smilezone presented the donated masks to both the Children’s Treatment Centre and Hospital yesterday, giving 100 to each.
 

Archie Dillon Sports Plex reopening this month

Another reopening set back has hit the Archie Dillon Sportsplex. The city’s manager of parks, rec and building operations says there have been problems removing tiles on the pool deck for replacement. In addition, they have now found roof damage due to water. They are hoping to have it reopened, by the end of the month.
 

$16,000 in funding going to Northern Ontario Railroad Museum and Heritage Centre in Capreol.

Nickel Belt MP Marc Serré was on hand for a funding announcement in Greater Sudbury. $16,000 in funding support for the Northern Ontario Railroad Museum and Heritage Centre in Capreol. The FedNor funding will allow for the to purchase and customize a mobile app to facilitate self-guided tours of the facility and its railyards.
